When Will Nirbhaya Get the Justice?

rape1New Delhi, Wednesday, December 23 – Rajya Sabha lately passed the Juvenile Justice Bill. This is certainly going to help the cops in future cases to take action against the convicts who are 16 and above and involved in crimes like rape, murder and so on.  But did Nirbhaya get the justice in true sense.

Of course, hopes are up with the amendment in the bill in future but what about the heinous offence that took place three years ago, shaming the humanity. The juvenile of 2012 gang rape case was released a few days ago. Since the offender was not 18 years of age at the time of committing the crime, the rapist has been freed post three years of imprisonment.

According to reports after Nirbhaya’s rape case, he wasn’t sorry for what he did. Had our laws been strict in rape cases and other monstrous acts previously, the juvenile wouldn’t have walked free. As per information from close sources, he isn’t any more in the national capital. Why didn’t our blood bleed to see teary faces of Nirbhaya’s parents who suffered a lot mentally in all those years? Nirbhaya succumbed to severe internal injuries. How can she rest in peace to see one of the offenders now out to live a normal life? She, in true terms, did not get justice. What all she suffered during and after rape will probably never let her family have a sound sleep.

It is easy to taunt people who participate in candle march or unite to show their support for victim’s family but it really takes courage to do so. Not everyone would like to leave the comfort of a blanket in wintry season to back someone whom they have hardly known in person. Everything can’t be left in the hands of the Almighty. The thought that probably the juvenile is going to have sleepless nights for being part of the horrendous crime he and five other men committed in 2012 gives peace to mind to some extent.
