Sri Lanka Eye Win in 3rd ODI against New Zealand to Keep Hopes Alive in Series

mcNew Delhi, Monday, December 29 – It is certainly not a good trip for Sri Lankan players this time to New Zealand. Soon after the team landed on the soil of Black Caps, series of defeat started to follow them.

After being crushed at the hands of Kiwis in 2-match Test series by 122 runs and 5 wickets at University Oval in Dunedin and Seddon Park in Hamilton, respectively, the tourists did not know that the same story is going to be repeated in different format as well.

Things weren’t fine for Sri Lanka from the beginning as the defeat took curtains off the poor batting. Totaling just 188 runs and not playing for entire 50 overs were enough to tell that the host struggled to stand unaffected while facing bowling by the opponents.

They put themselves in problem by losing the second ODI. No substantial contribution from top, middle and tail-ender batsmen of Sri Lanka and a blitz by Martin Guptill made them go on the back foot. Wickets should be saved as long as possible in Game 3 if the visitors really want to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. Saxon Field is to host an important competition and audience is keen to notice whether guests rise on the occasion or not.
